Anda-Olsen delivers uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) that safeguard critical installations.
Reliable power supplies for critical installations are at the core of our business and our employees' focus.
With roots in the maritime environment, we develop uninterruptible power supplies for some of the most demanding conditions in the world.
Anda-Olsen collaborates closely with Riello UPS, which develops advanced UPS systems to meet the future needs of power protection.
Together, we provide uninterruptible power supplies to data centers, ensuring maximum uptime.
Data centers are the backbone of digital infrastructure.
Anda-Olsen AS is a member of the Norwegian Data Center Industry. This membership represents a strategic step in our long-term focus on data center solutions and strengthens our position as a leading provider of reliable and sustainable power supplies for critical installations. You can read the blog post we wrote about this here.
In today’s digitalized society, data centers are the foundation for businesses that rely on continuous access to data and systems.
A data center consists of many computers that store, manage, and process data for various purposes. Banks, healthcare, e-commerce, the public sector, and more depend on data centers to keep critical services running.
Reliable uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is therefore essential to ensure uninterrupted operation and constant data availability.
At Anda-Olsen, we deliver modern solutions that protect data centers from power outages and disruptions, ensuring high uptime.
Over half of downtime is caused by power issues
In the report "Annual Outage Analysis 2024" from Uptime Institute, it is revealed that:
- 52% of incidents leading to downtime are related to power.
This highlights the importance of reliable backup power. - 54% of respondents reported that their most recent major outage cost over $100,000,
and 16% stated that the costs exceeded $1 million. - 4 out of 5 incidents could have been avoided with better equipment, configurations, and processes.
Even though data centers are moving towards distributed systems, where data is stored in multiple locations simultaneously, operators are increasing investments in physical infrastructure to achieve redundancy with multiple layers of protection.
Distributed systems are not sufficient
In short, a distributed system consists of a network of multiple computers working together as one unit.
While distributed systems reduce vulnerability to power outages at a single location, reliable UPS and battery systems are still necessary at each site.
A power outage at one location can still cause issues with data synchronization between the different sites in a distributed system.
UPS systems ensure that systems continue running long enough to complete critical tasks and secure data integrity, before data is potentially transferred to backup systems at other locations or generators are activated.
Uninterruptible power supplies and Anda Cloud provide "peace of mind."
Ensuring the power supply for critical installations requires reliable systems.
We deliver solutions ranging from a few kilowatts to several megawatts, covering everything from peripheral equipment to the entire power supply for data centers.
Many uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) are left with inadequate or no maintenance and monitoring. Anda-Olsen offers a monitoring solution, Anda Cloud, which provides better control over the condition of batteries and UPS through a user-friendly interface.
Riello UPS
Riello is a world-leading manufacturer of UPS systems, with 18 branches in 15 countries and partners globally. Riello UPS is part of Riello Elettronica, founded by Riello in 1986. Since then, they have developed world-class uninterruptible power supplies.
Today, they operate research and development centers near Verona and Milan, where they continuously develop and improve power protection solutions.
One of their projects is the delivery of the power supply system to Aruba's Bergamo campus.
They have installed container-based NextEnergy 1000 systems with three NXE 500 kW UPS units in parallel, supported by a centralized bypass system.
This solution ensures continuous power supply and optimal operational reliability for the campus's critical infrastructure.
Anda-Olsen and Riello UPS
Riello UPS collaborates with partners worldwide, and in Norway, Anda-Olsen is their trusted partner. With nearly 100 years of combined experience in power protection, you can be confident that your critical installations are secured against power outages and fluctuations in the power grid.
Anda-Olsen visited Riello UPS at "Riello UPS Days" in 2024
Riello organizes "UPS Days" to bring together its partners and resellers, showcasing the latest developments in their products.
In 2024, there was a strong focus on the Multi Power 2, where participants received an in-depth introduction to the impressive features that make this UPS unique.
During live tests, an efficiency of 98.1% was demonstrated, highlighting the system's energy-saving and cost-effective technology.
There was a significant emphasis on the importance of ISO 27001 and cybersecurity, particularly concerning the connectivity of the Multi Power 2.
Participants were given a detailed review of the technical structure, with special focus on adaptations for Norwegian conditions, including extended bypass functionality and the option for a higher IP rating than standard.
This demonstrates how well Riello UPS is tailored to demanding environments and stringent requirements.
Riello UPS clearly showed that they continue to innovate and adapt to new challenges in the market. Anda-Olsen is proud to offer these advanced solutions to their customers, ensuring that critical systems always have a reliable power supply.
Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology elevates UPS systems to a new level
SiC technology is revolutionizing UPS systems by offering higher efficiency and reliability in critical power supply environments. SiC components reduce energy loss by up to 70% compared to traditional silicon-based systems, delivering an impressive efficiency of over 98%.
This efficiency remains stable regardless of load, reducing cooling needs and making the systems more compact.
For industries such as maritime, offshore, and data centers, where continuous and reliable power is crucial, SiC-based UPS systems provide clear advantages, including reduced heat generation, a smaller physical footprint, and lower operating costs.
These systems also help reduce cooling requirements and free up space, making them an ideal solution for the future demands of critical power supply.
Anda-Olsen offers the Multi Power 2 from Riello UPS, which leverages this technology to achieve 98.1% efficiency. Its modular architecture makes it easy to scale the UPS system as needed, allowing for gradual expansion instead of overinvesting from the start.
